PANCHAKARMA
ALWAYS FEELING HEAVY, TIRED AND DEMOTIVATED LOOKING AND FEELING OLDER SUDDENLY LOSING THE LUSTER OF THE SKIN, EYES AND HAIRS GAINING WEIGHT EASILY POOR DIGESTION, FEELING GASSY AND BLOATED FREQUENT DISEASES ALWAYS FEELING LIKE MANY THINGS ARE WRONG OR ONE IS ALWAYS SICK
In short, we lose our quality of life. This is a sign of ama, accumulation of toxins in the body, and Ayurveda offers one of the most elaborate detoxification procedures of the body known as Pancha karma. From ancient times Ayurveda says that health has not only just a physical aspect to it, but also a mental, emotional and spiritual aspect as well. Ayurveda recommends various self-care routines to maintain overall health in an individual and various natural treatments are advised to reverse ill-health and gain back our overall health. Ayurvedic detox therapies are the epitome of this self-care and treatment regimes. Whether you have a disease condition or you are just not feeling well enough, PANCHAKARMA therapy is advised and can be tailored according to your needs.
WHAT IS PANCHAKARMA?
Panchakarma literally means FIVE THERAPIES and comes under the heading of sodhana therapy (purification or detoxification therapy). If something upsets our stomach, we tend to vomit. If the intestines are affected, we get diarrhea. Phlegm is eliminated through nose and mouth and so on because these are the natural channels of cleansing the body. Ayurveda recommends to use these natural channels of cleansing in an increased, but controlled way to cleanse the system.
The five procedures which come under PANCHAKARMA are
VAMANA
Emesis (inducing vomiting)
VIRECHANA
Purgation (also known as purge; inducing diarrhea)
KASHAYA VASTI
Oil Enema (lubricating enema)
SNEHA VASTI
Herbal enema (cleansing enema)
WHY PANCHAKARMA
The Panchakarma treatment brings a way to purify the body holistically while helping remove impurities and improve mental health along the way. It plays a crucial role in enhancing body functions and maintaining overall health and not to mention stress relief which would in turn fill the soul with positivity and peace. What’s more, as the treatment helps bring a balance to the doshas in the body, you feel rejuvenated and your true self.
BENEFITS OF PANCHAKARMA
If you are healthy or ill, you can benefit from Pancha karma (of course, the plans would be different) as Pancha karma aims at cleansing the body from the accumulated doshas and toxins. The main objectives of panchakarma are
Maintain health(swasthyarakshana)
Eliminate disease(roganivarana)
Prepare the body for rejuvenation(rasayana)
Pancha karma gives the body an opportunity to reset and reboot. By the process of cleansing, the load on the organs like gut and skin are reduced. The gut environment is improved, which boosts gut flora that helps to improve overall well-being of the individual. With the combination of massage and steam, a person can attain a blissful feeling that leaves the body healed, feeling refreshed and also rejuvenated.

HOW PANCHAKARMA IS DONE
As mentioned earlier, Pancha karma is the process which eliminates toxins from the body and thereby helps to bring back the balance of the body. For an effective cleansing it is important to process the toxins properly before doing Pancha karma and also to nourish the body and ease back to a normal and healthy life after the process of Pancha karma. Taking all these factors into consideration, Pancha karma is done in three stages as
POORVA KARMA
Preparation for Pancha karma. Involves processing toxins and preparing the body for the cleanse. The pre-procedural protocol consists of four main steps …
PRADHANA KARMA
The actual cleanse: After proper administration of the pre-procedural steps, we now move on to the main detoxification procedure…
PASCHAT KARMA
Care After The Cleanse. After the main procedure of pancha karma is done, Ayurveda recommends to slowly ease back to normal lifestyle..
HOW PANCHA KARMA IS PLANNED
At Liv Ayurveda, Pancha karma is planned after a consultation with our experienced Ayurveda physicians. If you are looking for a holistic Ayurveda plan for your health condition, it is recommended to begin the journey with an initial consultation. Your practitioner will give you a detailed Ayurveda plan of diet, lifestyle, herbs, massage therapies and detox.
However usually initial consultation doesn’t involve a detailed discussion for detox as the body may not be ready for that. Once your body is ready for Pancha karma, you will be booked in for a detox consult where the recommended plan will be explained. Taking into consideration your practical situation, our practitioners will help you to find a plan that works for your health condition and body type.
If you are visiting Liv Ayurveda just for a cleansing or to plan your seasonal cleanse, you are recommended to book a detox consult where our Ayurveda practitioner will assess you and recommend the plan needed. Our practitioners will help you to find a plan that works for your health condition, body type and practical situations.
