Originated from Kerala- a Southern State of India, Pizhichil is an ayurvedic massage therapy, which means squeezing. This therapy combines two ayurvedic treatments, “Snehana” meaning lubrication, and “Swedana” meaning sweat-inducing. Pizhichil involves pouring herbal oils over the body with simultaneous massaging. It is administered in seven standard positions, ensuring that all the body parts are covered. The procedure is concluded with a warm water bath. Pizhichil is beneficial in the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, paralysis, poliomyelitis, and so on.
