Ear disorder, also known as Karna Roga in Ayurvedic terms, is a widely seen issue, especially in elderly people. Some of the major reasons are ageing, inflammation and accumulation of fluids. Children also often become victims of ear disorders. Fluid discharge, hard ear wax, excessive pain, tinnitus and hearing loss are some of the commonly seen ear problems which are normally caused due to imbalance of Vata dosha. Yellow discharges, swelling, redness and burning sensation arises when there is an imbalance in Pitta dosha. Other symptoms such as slimy discharge, hearing abnormalities, itching, constant swelling and mild pain come as a result of Kapha imbalance. To combat ear problems we recommend our patients to undergo karna poornam treatment and suggest diets that can stabilize the doshas.
